About This Item
New York: Harcourt, Brace and Company, 1943. The fourth novel by John B. Sanford (pseudonym for Julian Lawrence Shapiro, 1904-2003). Initially a lawyer, Sanford began to write at the suggestion of his friend Nathaniel West (to whom he dedicated this book). His career as a screenwriter in Hollywood was ended by his membership in the Communist Party. This is a Near Fine copy of the First Edition (stated). Uncommon. Dark blue cloth binding with yellow lettering on the spine. Clean text; 232 pages. A little mild bumping and a previous-owner signature on the FFEP; else a Fine copy. The dustjacket is Good only, showing edgewear and three large chips on the spine and rear panel. In an archival plastic protector.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.
