Leather-backed green cloth in green slipcase. Gilt titling. 9 3/4" x 13" Oblong. Index. Peter Biegel (1913-1989) was, during his lifetime, generally said to be "the best painter of the horse". He reportedly was a favorite of the Queen and the Queen Mother. Most of the horses pictured in this book raced in Europe. Three pages do feature Secretariat. A beautifully produced book and slipcase. A cornerstone of any racehorse book collection. A Near Fine copy (Christmas gift inscription on half-title; slightly rubbed slipcase).
