London: Sir Isaac Pitman & Sons 1899. (Hardcover) 826pp. Very good plus, no dust jacket. Burgundy leather with gilt lettering on the spine. All edges gilt, index, photographs, typewriting exercises. The spine is lightly faded and there is a tiny closed tear on the front free endpaper. "We have pleasure in commencing our customary annual survey of shorthand affairs by pointing out that the encouraging element of growth, in all that appertains to the teaching and employment of the phonographic art, is the most striking fact deducible from the statements of teachers, and from the returns of examining bodies" - from the Annual Address to our Readers. Includes Typewriting Exercises. Text in Pitman Shorthand and English. (Linguistics, Phonology, Shorthand).
