For its age this would grade near fine but is truly only very good 171 p. Includes illustrations. viii prelims 163 text pages plus 4 pages adverts. 20 PLATES 20 FULL PLATES. Hard-bound with bevelled edges to front board and bright decorative gilt. Gilt on spine. Text pages on quality paper still almost as new. Adverts on a thinner paper and toned. Tissue-protected frontis. All plates present and fine. Lovely prize plate of the Institute for the ducation of Young Ladies, Ediburg. Size 10" x 8". Plum-purple boards hightly decorated in gilt. Front hinge just slightly starting. FROM CHAUCER ONWARD. PICTURES AND TEXTUAL DISCUSSIONS. 1879 IS A BEST GUESS FROM READING DEALERS' LISTINGS
