A Wonderful Large Paper Copy First edition, one of 100 large paper copies, large quarto, vi, [2, contents and pl list], 288 pp, hand coloured vignette title and forty eight superb hand coloured aquatint plates of rural views, plates with Whatman watermark of 1819/20. In contemporary half brown calf over green cloth, expertly rebacked to style with raised bands, gilt decorated compartments and the original morocco gilt lettered label, marbled endpapers, minor foxing to preliminaries, small neat repaired marginal tear to 202 (not affecting any text), marginal stain to p257 (text leaf, not affecting lettering). Overall, an excellent copy. (352*286 mm). (Tooley 219. Abbey Scenery 192. Prideaux p336. Martin-Hardie p108/9). This spectacular work was the fruit of a two year sojourn by Fielding & Walton in the Lake District. This reflected in the detailed descriptions of all aspects of life in the area, depicting the scenery, history, antiquities, customs and habits of the local people, described in the preface as 'combining a judicious selection from the labours of former writers, and extracts from admired poets, with much new and original material. Title continues: with accounts of antient and modern manners and customs, and elucidations of the history and antiquities of that part of the country, &c. &c., illustrated with forty-eight coloured views

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS You may request to cancel a book order or return a book within 14 days of receipt of the book. Item not as described: The condition of the book does not match the description on Madoc Books. Incorrect item delivered: The title, cover or edition of the book is different than the title on the order. Item not received: The estimated delivery date has passed and the book has still not arrived. To cancel a book order or return a book simply contact Madoc with your order confirmation details and to obtain the return address.

DELIVERY DETAILS We ship all of our orders via Royal Mail. Orders are usually shipped within 2 or 3 business days. Shipping costs are based on books weighing 2.2 LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized or a multiple in books we will contact you to let you know that extra shipping is required. Insurance costs are usually dictated by the shippers, should they be higher than normal, then we will contact you for your acceptance.
