London: R Faulder, 1795. First edition. Leather. Very Good Indeed. 9" by 6.5". Samuel Ireland . A smartly bound, exquisitely illustrated first edition copy of this exploration of the River Avon. In a full calf binding. Illustrated, with a frontispiece, map, and 29 sepia aquatints with two engraved portraits. Collated, complete. Samuel Ireland was an author and engraver who issued many titles under his 'Picturesque Views' series. The first was his tour through Holland, Barbant and France. He also wrote many more 'river' views on the Thames, the Medway, and the Wye. This work describes the locations and views along the River Avon from its source at Naseby to its junction with the Severn at Twekesbury. A bright copy of this work with good margins. In a full calf binding. Externally, very smart, with rubbing to the joints and extremities. Small loss to the leather at the head of front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Very Good Indeed
