A signed first edition of Edmund Wilson's essays, written when he was sixty, looking at a various of pressing global topics of the time. Inscribed by the author to the recto to the front endpaper, the name of the recipient has been rubbed out.The first edition of this work.In the original unclipped dustwrapper.A series of essays by Edmund Wilson, looking into his opinions on religion, the United States, war, Russia, and more.Wilson was an American writer who explored Freudian and Marxist themes. He was an influence to F. Scott Fitzgerald. In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, smart, with some minor marks to the front joint. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Author's inscription to the recto to the front endpaper. Dustwrapper with minor edgewear, resulting in some small closed tears. Spine is a little sunned. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
