London: S. W. Partridge and Co., 1870. Hardcover. Near Fine. With an Introductory Notice of the Author by Rev. William Landels, D. D. Full, beautiful black morocco, six gilt decorated spine compartments, gilt device of the "Daventry Grammar School for Girls" on the front, red morocco title label on spine. Marbled endpapers, with a bookplate on the front signifying that the book was a prize awarded to a student in July, 1906. Eight coloured plates and forty seven other illustrations by Bernard, Linton, Small and others. Some spotting to the endpapers, rest of contents extremely clean and fresh. Both book and binding are in Near Fine condition with very little wear. A beautiful copy. (12 mo, 415 pp)
Synopsis
The Pilgrim's Progress from This World to That Which Is to Come is a Christian allegory written by John Bunyan and published in February, 1678. It is regarded as one of the most significant works of English literature, has been translated into more than 200 languages, and has never been out of print.
