One of a lovely collection of classic children's books issued in the early-mid-20th century by Garden City Publishing Co. in NY, which primarily published reprints of books orig. issued by its parent company, Doubleday. All the books were cloth-bound hardcover books with a colored paper pastedown to the front board, each illustrated by a famous artist of the day. Published in 1932 (First, Thus) this one has the lovely full-color illustrations of Maud & Miska Petersham, pioneering American writers & illustrators of children's books around the turn of the 20th century. Besides the frontispiece/title page, this one has 3 internal color plates. Though the binding is tight & all pages are intact this book is downgraded to only Fair due to these flaws: tanning & foxing throughout, significant rubbing to extremities, heaviest at corners (down to underlying boards), small, random soiled spots to fore edge.
