About This Item
Garden City, New York, U.S.A.: Garden City Publishing Co./Doubleday, 1932. First Thus . Hardcover. Fair. Petersham, Maud; Petersham, Miska. One of a lovely collection of classic children's books issued in the early-mid-20th century by Garden City Publishing Co. in NY, which primarily published reprints of books orig. issued by its parent company, Doubleday. All the books were cloth-bound hardcover books with a colored paper pastedown to the front board, each illustrated by a famous artist of the day. Published in 1932 (First, Thus) this one has the lovely full-color illustrations of Maud & Miska Petersham, pioneering American writers & illustrators of children's books around the turn of the 20th century. Besides the frontispiece/title page, this one has 3 internal color plates. Though the binding is tight & all pages are intact this book is downgraded to only Fair due to these flaws: tanning & foxing throughout, significant rubbing to extremities, heaviest at corners (down to underlying boards), small, random soiled spots to fore edge. Former owner's name inside front cover, scribbled out in pen, else unmarked. Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock" images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific); later orders, weekends & holidays ship very next business day.
