About the author

Gris Grimly is the illustrator of many books for young readers, including The Cockatrice Boy by Joan Aiken and A Collection of Edgar Allan Poe. He lives in Los Angeles. Grimly's illustrations for Carlo Collodi's classic Pinocchio inspired Guillermo del Toro's designs in his animated adaptation.

Guillermo del Toro is a filmmaker, director, and author, known for dark fantasy and fairy-tale inspired works including The Shape of Water and Pan's Labyrinth. In 2023, del Toro won best animated feature, his third Academy Award, with his adaption of Pinocchio.

Carlo Collodi is the pen name of Carlo Lorenzini. Born in 1826, he worked as a journalist before publishing The Adventures of Pinocchio in 1883. Translated into more than ninety languages, Pinocchio has never been out of print.
