London, Printed at the Chiswick Press, 1887. Tall Hardback, approx 11 x 8.5 inches. Full light brown calf leather fine binding by “Riviere & Son.” Decorative gilt paneled boards, Gilt shield with lion on front and back cover. Raised bands with gilt trim and florets to spine. Gilt lettering and all page edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. In very good condition. Some rubbing and darkening to edges and spine. Small rubbed patch to boards nr bottom corner. A couple of small scratches and handling marks to boards. Armorial bookplate to front endpaper. Binders stamp “Riviere” to blank corner. Some light foxing to plain endpapers/prelims. Some small spots to title page and frontis plate, a couple of occasional minor spots to pages else inside pages very clean and tight throughout. Latin presentation inscription to front (translation) “This Book, Johanni Walter, Eton retirement gift to the teacher instructor Edmundas Warre, 1892.” Else a very good clean and tight copy. xxxvi, 170pp. With engraved frontis portrait, & 3 engraved plates plates by Charles Radclyffe. With decorative chapter headings, letter and tailpieces. A printed presentation leaf before the half-title is inscribed & signed by the Headmaster with the boy's name in Latin & the date (1888).
