About This Item
New York: T. Lynch, 1859. Leather. Very Good. 9" by 6" . None . An uncommon US edition of the poetical works of Lord Byron, complete in one volume. An uncommon T. Lynch edition of the collected poetical works of Romantic English poet Lord Byron in one volume, with copious illustrative notes and a memoir of his life. Illustrated with a steel engraving frontispiece portrait of Byron. Infamous Lord Byron was a British Romantic poet and satirist, known for his mannerisms and particular character. He was made famous by his long autobiographical poem Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, his many love affairs, and is better known today for the satiric realism of Don Juan. His poetry is characterised by the use of blank verse, allusive imagery, heroic couplets, and complex structure. In a half straight up morocco binding over cloth covered boards, gilt to the edges. Externally sound with minor shelf wear and rubbing to the spine and extremities. Evidence of the removal of a sticker to the verso front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Light spotting to the odd leaf, and odd offsetting to the occasional leaf, otherwise the pages appear generally clean throughout. Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait of Byron. Very Good
