Includes frontispiece and title page photographs of Cowper's home at Olney and his modest summer house. Includes a biography of the life of the author, many of his minor poems, his translations and his most substantial work, The Task. William Cowper is considered a forerunner of the Romantics for his subject matter, everyday life and the English countryside. In a calf binding with blindstamped detailing. Externally, generally smart with bumping and rubbing to corners and head and tail of spine. Internally, firmly bound with light foxing to page edges, otherwise clean and bright. Very Good

Based in the literary city of Bath, our offices are housed in the Eastern Dispensary. Built in 1845, the building originally existed as a charitable institution providing medical care. The building now houses our collection of over twenty thousand books and has five full time members of staff.
