The first issue of this quarterly periodical which continues the poetry section of "The Dial" founded by Ralph Waldo Emerson in 1840. Poets in this issue are George Abbe, Elizabeth Bartlett, Maxwell Bodenheim, John Ciardi, Richard Eberhart, John D. Engels, Clayton Eshleman, John Fandell, Lous Ginsberg, Suzanne Gross, Louis Hasley, Judson Jerome, Joseph Joel Keith, Ralph L. Kinsey, Alfred Kreymborg, John Logan, Joanne de Longchamps, Marion Montgomery, Raymond Roseliep, Ernest Sandeen, Martin Scholten, Eve Triem, James L. Weil and John Hall Wheelock. One article, "The American Idiom" by William Carlos Williams. The front cover is soiled with some surface foxing and a piece of cello-tape in the top spine corner.
