Jacket is now protected by archival cover.).. First printing. A story of life on Olvera Street in old Los Angeles for a four-year old girl, told with Politi's sensitiveness and beautifully illustrated with his paintings throughout. Born in Fresno, California, Politi studied art in Italy, but when he returned to California he settled in Los Angeles near Olivera Street. Included in the story is the music to three songs. INSCRIBED by Politi on the page facing the title page "Horace with best wishes from Juanita and me" and dated in 1950. The large 'H' in Horace is embellished with watercolor paintings of flowers.
