An enduring textbook, which features a Preface in the smallest type I have ever noticed in a preface. Try this from lesson LXXVII: "Two boys, William and Thomas, trading with marbles, in company, gained 80 cents; William owned 2/4 of the marbles and Thomas 1/4; what was each one's part of the gain?"

New York: Cady & Burgess. Good. 1847. Hardcover. Leather spine has splitting to the front edge, surface loss to the rear edge, wear to the ends, and rubbing. Covers have light wear to the outer corners and are darkened. Slightly foxed, a little heavier on a few pages. ; "...on a new plan: by which mental arithmetic is combined with the use of the slate". .

New York: Roe Lockwood, 1834. Fair condition. 3.75" wide by 6" tall. "Revised and Enlarged Edition." No date of publication is given, but the preface is dated January 1834. Bound in the original brown printed paper-covered boards with a green leather spine. Hinges are cracked but still securely attached. Parts of the brown printed paper over the boards have been eaten away (by insects?). There are two ink names on the flyleaf, dated 1843 and 1850 respectively. Text pages are in Very Good condition but for some small brown speckles (light foxing). NO underlining. NO margin notes.
