Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - 1909

UK: Macmillan, 1909. New Edition 1909. Illustrated by Charles Brock. Originally published in 1895, the book states reprint. The publisher constantly changed the book design for each reprint. I suspect this catered for the changing taste that the market demanded. The early 1900's book period was heavily influenced by Art Nouveau book designs. This new edition is very scarce and un-recorded in the Austen bibliography. The boards are in the Art Nouveau style and are probably designed after or by Talwin Morris. Talwin Morris was leading illustrator and book designer during the late 19th and early 20th century. Book is very good++ and very bright. Nice solid binding . Edges lightly rubbed.
