This 133 year-old, beautifully embossed book is in Very Good condition. Minor bumping to spine head. foot and corners. Some soiling and scuffing to binding. Blank endpapers are foxed. Slight water staining and page warping at rear of book, predominately on the Conclusion and Note pages. Hinge is tight. No tears to pages. Text and illustrations are bright and clear. Interior is clean, no writing or bookplates. See photos for condition. 192 illustrations throughout text. Illustrator is unnamed.

Synopsis

The Prince and the Pauper is an English language novel by American author Mark Twain. It was first published in 1881 in Canada before its 1882 publication in the United States. The book represents Twain's first attempt at historical fiction. Set in 1547, the novel tells the story of two young boys who are identical in appearance: Tom Canty, a pauper who lives with his abusive father in Offal Court, London, and Edward VI of England, son of Henry VIII of England.
