Full-Leather. Good/No Jacket. Boards rubbed, leather dried, corners exposed, bookplates of John Petyo Verney and Robert John Verney, Lords Willoughby de Broke, on front endpapers. 1683 Full-Leather. Full leather, leather spine label with gilt titles and rules. Engraved frontispiece portrait, preface by John Tillotson, Archbishop of Canterbury. First published in 1675, this work discusses the ontological argument for God's existence, and mentions the development of the microscope. Author John Wilkins co-founded the Royal Society, and is best known for his advocacy of a universal language and system of measurement in his 1668 An Essay Towards a Real Character and a Philosophical Language. This edition, published posthumously, includes William Lloyd's sermon, which was preached at Wilkins's funeral in 1673.
