1981 Duke University Press trade hardcover format. No indications of later printings on the copyright page. Not remainder marked, dj is not clipped. Thick stock paper dj shows mild toning, 1 enclosed 1 inch rip along the top edge of the front panel & an enclosed nick on the lower edge of the back panel, some faint shelfware but in overall Very Good condition now in Brodart protective sleeve. Page 177 has some underlining in pen, else pages are clean & unmarked. The upper edge of the text block suffered a ding which causes some rippling on the upper corner of the text block from pages 177 till the end of the book at page 313, causing no rips. Red boards clean & square, binding firm & straight. Gold lettering on the spine fine.
