Description

New York: Hall and Company Book. Good. Hardcover. 1883, viii, [13]-524pp, frontispiece portrait of the six scientists. There are a few waterstains on the covers, inner hinge neatly reinforced, extremities worn, contents VG. Although it is difficult to get a handle on this book without reading it thoroughly, it appears to be an early entry in the Creation vs. Evolution argument. The author states that the human soul is an organism possessed of eyes, ears, and brain, and thus, since matter cannot be annihilated, the human soul must continue to exist in some dimension after bodily death. By refuting the theories of some of the scientists, he builds a platform on which to base his own theories. A curious mix of philosophy and science..
