About This Item
Milan: Jabik & Colophon Editori, 1973-1975. Quarto (28 x 21 cm). Original black-and-white photomontage wrappers; various paginations ranging from 40 to 174 pp. Some light soiling to covers, minor wear, overall very good. A complete run of 10 issues in 8 fascicules of the historic Italian magazine published under the editorial direction of radical Italian architect and designer Ugo La Pietra. In the 1970s, La Pietra focused his attention and his work on urban zones, in a quest to reappropriate and reinterpret cities and urban spaces.
The issues are subtitled either "Per Un Comportamento Creativo nei Processi di Riappropriazione dell'Ambiente" or "Per un Comportamento Creativo nei Processi di Rappresentazione dell'Ambiente", and the first four fascicules, representing nos. 1, 2, 3/4, and 5/6 each have their own title as well: L'Uso dell'Oggetto, L'Uso della Città, La Lettura di una Tipologia Urbana, and Guida Alternativa alla Città di Milano.
The issues feature contributions from La Pietra, Almerico De Angelis, Gruppo RNF, Vincenzo Ferrari, Franco Summa, Gianni Pettena, Dely Pezzullo, Gianni-Emilio Simonetti, Aurelia Raffo, Virgilio Vercelloni, Flavio Vida, Vanni Puccioni, Gruppo Libidarch, Davide Mosconi, Maurizio Nannucci, Alessandro Mendini, Jörg Mayr, Studio IF, and others. The essays cover topics such as desire of the object, metadesign, the use of cities, urban structure, urban typologies, urban space in school education, urban eroticism, urban culture, narrative art, and the avant-garde, among many others. The issues are profusely illustrated throughout, primarily from photographs but also illustrations and photomontages.
Scarce; as of August 2023, OCLC only locates five holdings of this journal in North American libraries.
