Inscription in Richard Le Gallienne's hand on ffep-"Mr. + Mrs. Philip Hiss from the 'Jim + Siss' of 'A Borrowed Sovereign' New York Nov. 19th '97". Le Gallienne's sister was Mary Elizabeth Welch (Sissie) who was married to James Welch (Jim), the story "A Borrowed Sovereign (to Mr. and Mrs. Welch)" in this book features characters named Jim and Siss. Paper-clipped to the page opposite the start of this story is a death notice for Sissie Welch. Condition of the book is Very Good; spine slightly darkened, light wear to spine ends and edges, bookplate of Philip & Helen Hiss on front pastedown, text is very clean, binding is tight. Fiction RGR
