Profusely illustrated throughout with vignettes and plates by Charles E Brock. Collated, complete with all plates. Limited edition, numbered 1 of 100 'copies for England'. Numbered to the first volume of Vanity Fair. In half morocco Bumpus Ltd bindings. This beautiful set comprises of all Thackeray's best known works including but not limited to, Vanity Fair, Pendennis, The Book of Snobs, The Adventures of Philip, The History of Henry Esmond and a volume of his Contributions to Punch. William Makepeace Thackeray is best remembered for his clever use of wit and satire throughout his works. In uniform half morocco bindings with paper covered boards. In Bumpus Ltd bindings of Oxford. Externally, excellent with minor shelfwear to the extremities. Some fading to the spines. Internally, all volumes are firmly bound. Small tidemarks to the margins of the first few pages to Philip volume I and to the last few pages of The Virginians volume III and to the first few pages of Vanity Fair volume II, not affecting text. Pages are generally bright with instances of the odd spots throughout. Near Fine
