The sequel to "The Medieval Foundation" in which Arthur Bryant showed how a group of warring tribal communities became a nation under the tutelage of the international church. In "Protestant Inslan he describes how after shaking off that Church, it grew into the inventive and expanding society that by its commercial enterprise revolutionized the world. Bryant explores life in England in the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, looking at all classes of society and how they lived. Sir Arthur has sought, with this book and his previous one, The Medieval Foundation, to show what kind of people the English were and how they came to be what they are. 359 pages, 8vo - over 7?" - 9?" tall 1967, Collins, UK
