About the author

Mike Nash is Deputy Director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth. He has taught students and practitioners units on dangerous offenders for a number of years. He has worked as a consultant to police and probation service on the subject of potential dangerousness. He has written and published widely on dangerousness, the probation service, and criminal justice policy. He is a former senior probation office who has worked in maximum security and lifer establishments. Blackstone Press published his first book, Police, Probation and Protecting the Public, in 1999.
