About This Item

Cincinnati: Faran & McLean, 1863. 5th edition. Hardcover. 624p. A hardcover book bound in dark green cloth with blind-stamped decorations. Good condition overall. Spotty stains on cover and edges rubbed through to the cardboard. Small tears in the cloth along the edges of the spine. Tiny speckles all over foredges. Owner's name inside front cover and pencil note in the margin of page 402. Foxing and occasional spotty stains throughout. Hinges a little shaky from years of handling, but binding secure enough for reading purposes. A work arguing against abolitionism because of the threat to the Union, and attempting to prove that enslaved people have benefitted from Christian conversion under the slave system.
