About This Item

London: Allison & Busby Fantastic Fiction Library nd Trade Paperback ISBN 0-85031-625-1 Near Fine. Light edgewear, mild age-toning to page edges, otherwise a very attractive copy, very clean throughout. Front cover shows a detail from "The Scapegoat" by William Holman.

Synopsis

The Purple Cloud is a "last man" novel by the British writer M. P. Shiel. It was published in 1901. H. P. Lovecraft later praised the novel as exemplary weird fiction, "delivered with a skill and artistry falling little short of actual majesty. " Frank Belknap Long deemed it "the most unutterably terrible book ever written".
