About the author

Gary Soto escribe poesa, ensayos, y novelas sobre los mexicano-americanos. El usa sus memorias de su juventud cuando escribe, y muchas de sus obras se tratan de Fresno, California, su lugar de su nacimiento y del Valle Central de California. Cuando era nio quera ser un cura, un vagabundo, o un paleontologo. En la universidad quera estudiar geografa, pero descubri que tena inters en poesa. Nunca tuvo muchos libros cuando era nio, y decidi escribir poesa a la edad de veinte aos. Soto es uno de los poetas ms jovenes que escribe en el Norton Anthology of Modern Poetry. Uno de sus xitos fue cuando escribi el libreto para una pera de la Los Angles pera. Actualmente, vive en Berkeley con su esposa e hija y ensea ingls y estudios de la cultura chicana en la Universidad de California.
