About This Item

New York: Nelson and Phillips, 1875. First printing. Hardcover. Very Good. Assume first printing, although the author is English -- no copies located in worldcat/OCLC of any similar British edition. 8vo, publisher's decorated dark brick cloth gilt, very good, most minor wear. One of a series of historical novels set in early Christian times; this one has a vivid anti-semitic streak to it, and takes place during the infancy of the Church, in Carthage, Alexandria, Antioch, etc. Emma Boultwood wrote over 100 books as Emma Leslie, many in the category of historical fiction.
