First Edition/First Printing. 1 pages. Broadside of the author/poet's piece. One of Adam Zagajewski's finest achievements. Limited Edition of 20 numbered and signed copies. None of the copies was commercially distributed. There is no ISBN. The Broadside is now rare. An austerely elegant production by Hit & Run Press: Oversize format at 9 X 12 inches. Poem by Adam Zagajewski. Translated from the Polish original by (the estimable) Clare Cavanagh. Art by Roberto Chavez. It shows a sketch-rendering of three gray rats directly underneath the title. Printed on cream, uncoated Rives BFK Gray Vandercook SP-15 Proof Press stock paper in the United States to the highest standards. Eminently suitable for framing. Enclosed in thick plastic sheet with brown cardboard backing. Without DJ, as issued. Presents Adam Zagajewski's "R. Says". His sad-funny piece on the impoverished, pathetic, and somewhat sordid life of contemporary literary types, imagined by the poet as rats scrounging for a living (kinda like Art Spiegelman imagined Jews as mice in his legendary "Maus" Series). Yet, not once in his moving and evocative poem does Zagajewski feel sorry for himself or his comrades. "Literary rats - Says R. - That's us. / We meet on line at discount movies; / at dusk, when brocaded suns sink in the green ponds, / we leave the libraries fattened on Kafka" (Adam Zagajewski). An absolute "must-have" title for Adam Zagajewski collectors. This is a copy of the Limited Edition of 20 copies, indicated/numbered as such in pencil on recto. It is magnificently signed in black fountain pen on recto by Adam Zagajewski. His specimen-signature is the best we have ever seen. This broadside is now collectible. It is eminently suitable for framing. This is one of few copies of the Limited Edition still available online and is in especially fine condition: Clean, crisp, and bright. A rare signed copy thus. One of the greatest poet/writers of our time. A fine copy. (SEE ALSO OTHER ADAM ZAGAJEWSKI AND WISLAWA SZYMBORSKA TITLES IN OUR CATALOG).
