Description
This is a collection of three books, two of which are by the Canadian engineer and railway historian Robert Legget (1904-1994).
The first is Railways of Canada, a best-seller, originally published in 1973, which tells the story of railways in Canada from the 1830s. This is a heavily illustrated 255-page trade paperback from 1980. Aside from a spot on the side at the back of the book, and the crease to the cover which you can see, it's in perfect condition.
The second book is Canadian Railways in Pictures, which was written by Leggett in 1977. This is the second paperback edition, published in 1985. It is a large trade paperback, 96 pages, with several photographs on every page.
The third book is Canadian Railway Scenes No. 3, compiled by Adolf & Okan in 1986. It includes vintage scenes of CP and CN, photos from the Last Spike Centennial, and the Trans-Canada to Expo '86 Restored Luxury Train.
Also included here are three pieces that were tucked into the larger book: a brochure from O.S. Live Steam Locomotive, and two black and white photos: on the back of one, it says "1/2" scale North Postern (England), Finished July 1940". On the back of the other, it says "View on the Ghost Rim (?) R.R. 1940".
