London: C.H. Clarke, 1870. Hardcover. Very good. A volume in the American Standard Library. Three short works by the prolific American author: "Kent, The Ranger," "Nathan Todd: A Sequel to Bill Biddon," and "The Wrecker's Prize." A significant figure in the rise of dime novels, Ellis (1840-1916) wrote hundreds of books and magazine articles, including Seth Jones, or the Captives of the Frontier (1860), which is said to have been a favorite of Abraham Lincoln. From the library of Henry Jeffrey Flower, 6th Viscount Ashbrook, with a small bookplate featuring the family crest and his signature on the front pastedown. 12mo. In a one-half tan calf over marbled paper binding, with a red morocco spine label, four raised bands, and decorative gilt stamping. A very good copy.
