RARE original FIRST EDITION, (1786, London) issued immediately after the execution of John "Jack" Shepherd. 56 pages plus title page and table of contents and introductions. Sewn binding with age-toned pages. All pages are present. cover is loose and edgworn and has blind stamp name of previous owner on front cover. Half of spine cover is missing.Full Title on title page: "Particulars of the Very Singular and Remarkable Trials and Convictions and Escapes of John Shepherd Together With His History from His Birth. In Which is Included a Minute Account of his Unparallelled Species of Treachery to his Associate, Leonard Sulivan Who was Executed at Maidstone for Robbery Committed in Shepherd's Company. N. B. This unhappy young man has been four Times tried CAPITALLY, - First Time which was for Forgery, at the Old Bailey, of which he was convicted and afterwards respited under the Gallows. - The Second time he was tried for a Highway Robbery, at Maidstone, and acquitted. - The Third Time for Shop-Lifting at the Old Bailey, and aquitted. - and the Fourth Time for a Highway Robbery, at the same place; for which he suffered (executed) on Wednesday, nov 22, 1786."
