New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons, 1978. First Edition. Cloth. Collectible Good/good +. Octavo, 386 pages. Unstated first edition. Inscribed and signed by author, dated September 9, 1979 on half-title page. Inscription mostly illegible: "To ****** and ****** ****** with compliments, Hans." Black cloth-covered boards with gilt accents and light bumping. Firm binding; no loose pages. Slightly cocked spine. Lightly tanned pages and edges; a few small marks on the edges. Dust jacket with sunned spine, chips and small tears; encased in a clear, protective cover. This is a large or heavy book and may require additional shipping charges to mail outside of the United States. Hans Peter Kraus (1907 - 1988) was an Austrian-born international rare book dealer in the second half of the 20th century and "in a league" with other rare book dealers such as Bernard Quaritch and A.S.W. Rosenbach. Kraus specialized in medieval illuminated manuscripts, incunables and books of the 16th and 17th centuries.
