About This Item

New York: Farrar, Straus and Cudahy, 1960. Hardcover. 8vo. Mustard cloth with black spine lettering, pictorial dust jacket. xii, 242pp. Near fine/good plus. Jacket a bit edgeworn, with a few tiny edge chips and sunned spine -- but complete and fairly attractive nonetheless. Quite tight and nice first edition of this firsthand tale of the Korean boy (1935-2019) caught in the middle of the Korean War and taken in by the G.I.s, eventually becoming an American citizen -- this copy boldly signed and inscribed by him in blue ballpoint on front flyleaf: "To Barbara Nilsson -- / With my very best wishes -- / my pleasure meeting you! / Joseph Anthony." Front pastedown bears interesting "US Army Military History Research Collection" bookplate noting it was presented by (typed in) "General of the Army Omar N. Bradley." A sharp copy of a title rarely found signed.
