Rebuffed after writing Arthur Conan Doyle to ask if he could write Holmes stories, the young Derleth created his own Sherlock Holmesian character, Solar Pons; this is the first collection of his tales. Foreword by Vincent Starrett. INSCRIBED to a collector by the author "For K---- K----- -- Greetings from a latter day Baker Street. Canonically, [signature]" on the first blank. Full black cloth, red titling. Light general wear, jacket edgeworn with light chipping, price clipped. Jacket art by Ronald Clyne. Text clean; xv, blank, 238 pages + colophon. Inscribed by the Author. First Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Very Good. 5¼" by 7½".
