Hardcover in pale green linen, stamped in red and green on front and spine, untrimmed; plain endpapers; [i]-v [vi], 1-154, [ii]pp; one-page publisher's ad at rear. Straight but rubbed and lightly scuffed, spine sunned, hinges cracking, but internally clean: Good.
Shute's stories of his New Hampshire boyhood, published in the Saturday Evening Post, earned him the nickname "the Mark Twain of New England." The Real Diary was the title that first brought him national recognition.
