Some pages a bit browned but overall very good in original publishers printed wraps, small stamps to covers.Some light creasing to wraps but still a very good copy of this fragile item. Housed in cloth folder with the bookplate of Hans Brukner (dated 1906).:

London: Printed for John Osborn, 1742 IN FAIR CONDITION. SCARCE. [7 leaves], 370pp, [7 leaves], bound in leather, with gilt border, raised bands on spine, binding tight. Title in red and black, no musical notation. Front cover detached, lacks back cover, flaking to backstrip, ffp detached - with ownership of "James E. Whitney Jr.", first 3 leaves partially adhered together. With a curious and copious Alphabetical Glossary, for Explaining the Scotch Words, in the back.

Quarto [285 x 246mm] "Varnished" Pictorial card covers with 10 black children on yellow diagonal + a black childs head in a roundelle + a dancing bear & a fish the rear cover with nursery rhymes & fairy tale roundelles depicted on a fan with a squirrel eating an acorn on the fan's handle and a List of Playtime Toy Books New Series with this title at No.57 of 58 in the series. (spine professionally rebacked in cloth/soft vertical crease) (12pp) lacks part of lower cover corner [green background color] Interior without inscriptions and clean white paper -no visible tears,no foxing entirely crisp, although some colouring in on pages.

16 pp. Small octavo. VG/VG. Book is fine, but for a 1-inch stain/abrasion on the front board. DJ has two small tears repaired at top of spine and a tiny (1 mm) chip at bottom of back panel. All over, a very nice impression. Inscribed by Copland in 1953 in Providence, Rhode Island, to Millard Thomson, a composer and professor at Brown. Thomson's bookplate opposite inscription. The book preserves the six Charles Eliot Norton Lectures delivered at Harvard University in May 1952 substantially as they were given. The first three lectures treat the musical mind as listener, interpreter, or creator; the remaining three discuss "the imaginative mind in the music of Europe and America."

BEAUTIFULLY SIGNED BY ALL 5 BAND MEMBERS at Tower Records on Sunset Blvd LA back in October 1997. Tower Records sticker on rear of DJ. A very attractive 1st printing in near-fine condition with mild blemishes on the boards (sharp corners but sun-fading along top edge) and dust jacket (wear on edges and one small closed tear). Looks quite nice with a new mylar cover added to dust jacket. Expedited shipping is welcome; signed by author.

Pages and binding intact. Red cloth cover with a spot on front and some rubbing and edge wear, including tears/chips to ends of spine. Good Plus Condition, close to Very Good.
