These "recollections" of a Union Army drummer boy gives the reader a glimpse of the soldier's life during the American Civil War from a perspective not often chronicled. There are descriptions of battles, including the penultimate struggle at Gettysburg, along with numerous stories, both poignant and humorous of camp-life from the memory of a sixteen year-old boy growing up during the war. The book is in Very Good condition with just some minor rubbing and bumping to boards and a little loss of gilt on the titles and design. There is a name in pen and a price on the FFEP and no other internal markings. Pages are of high-quality, heavy paper, very bright, and the text has numerous black & white illustrations done by a soldier from the Confederate Army, according to the author. A rare glimpse into the more human, personal side of soldiering.
