About This Item
Richard Bentley, London., 1835. First edition. Octavo. pp xii, 228. Frontispiece engraving of the author based on Joshua Reynolds' painting of him. Period binding of full calf recently rebacked, raised bands, gilt decorated spine, slightly disappointing modern gilt lettering on new spine-labels, gilt inner and outer dentelles. All edges gilt. Marbled endpapers. The author expands upon notes he made during his second trip to Portugal in 1794. Ownership inscription on first blank. Covers marked and a little rubbed at corners. Inner hinges a little cracked - this said the covers are tight. Some spotting throughout. Very good.
