Description

London: Constable & Co. Ltd, 1947. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5". None. A marvellous first edition copy of this novel on war and life by Bruce Marshall. The first edition of this work by Bruce Marshall. A story set in Austria right after the war, when the Danube is still flushing from blue to red. An audacious narrative on the complex absurdities of life and a tragic tale. In the original, unclipped dustwrapper designed by Edward Ardizzone. In the original publisher's cloth binding, with titles stamped in silver to spine. Externally lovely with only minor shelfwear. Inscribed by a previous owner to front free endpaper, dated 1948. Dustwrapper is very smart, with minor shelfwear and slight sunning to spine. Unclipped. Minor puncture mark to spine to wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Near Fine
