About the author

The Red Hot Chili Peppers came together in Los Angeles in 1983. The group's musical style puts an emphasis on funk, punk, and psychedelic rock. The band consists of founding members Anthony Kiedis (vocals) and Michael "Flea" Balzary (bass), alongside drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer. Over thirty years the Chili Peppers have become one of the best-selling bands in history, won seven Grammys, and have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

David Mushegain is a top photographer for Vogue, Interview, and various other publications. In accompanying the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their 2011-12 world tour, Mushegain gained unique access to the band's devotees, and presents the best of the images he captures in this volume.
