New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1898. First Edition. Second printing, with later binding in gilt only. Octavo (19.5cm). Green cloth stamped in gilt; plain endpapers; [xvi],584,[2],4pp; 4pp of publisher's ads at rear; halftone illustrations on inserted plates. Straight and bright with very slight rubbing, Near Fine. Page's writings, which were heavily nostalgic for the antebellum South, contributed to the development of the plantation genre and the Lost Cause myth.
