Photo endpapers. Description: Over 150 black and white illustrations -- many historic photographs, plus a few maps. This traces the beginnings and details the history of the California Western Railroad which stretches from the Pacific Coast at Fort Bragg through miles of redwood forest to Willits, winding through the mountains and crossing and recrossing the Noyo River. The railroad began as a logging line, then enjoyed a second life as a scenic ride on a ''rail bus''. This was originally published in October, 1963; this revised second edition has an added epilog, ''The Iron Horse Rolls Again'' (referred to on the jacket flap as ''Steam Rolls Again'').
