The Council of Trent was an important ecumenical council during the mid-16th-century which has been described by multiple scholars as the epitome of the Counter-Reformation. It was prompted out of issues concerning heresy committed by Protestant doctrine based on justification, salvation, and most famously the Biblical canon.
This impressive 1684 Dutch edition of the rules and decrees of the Council of Trent features an added, engraved title page from the first edition.
