A few tiny (<1/8") nicks to cloth at ends of spine. Gutters intact. Tissue guard to frontispiece present. Pencil marks on front endpaper. Lock of blonde hair of unknown origin loosely included at rear of book.; Fourth printing. (viii), 183 pages + frontis + 20 plates + 1 colour map + 2 folding colour plans. Red cloth boards with gilt illustration on front board. Page dimensions: 226 x 141mm. "This book is the joint production of two brothers, who are constantly being mistaken for one another, who happened to be present together in the same campaign and to both act as correspondents of the Times in that campaign." - from the preface. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
