Later polished brown calf, gilt backstrips, red and green labels, gilt edges, bookplates of Charles Sebag-Montefiore. § First edition, the regular edition which was printed in an edition of 1250 copies. A handsome set. Dibdin’s autobiography contains a wealth of information on bookselling and collecting at the beginning of the nineteenth century, when “bibliomania” was born.
