Description

Cambridge MA: Printed for the Museum, April, 1884. Illustrated by 6 b&w plates and tissue guards with descriptive letterpress. First edition. Green printed wrappers, unopened. 4to. pp. [12 leaves of plates and tissues]. About Very Good. Chipped, soiled covers short tears, nick to top edge of first two signatures, faint curved fold line to last three plates and tissues. Hamlin was a 'payroll paleontologist' at the Museum and undergraduate instructor in physical geography and structural geology at Harvard. The paper details three obtained 'shell collections' of Lebanon and Syrian mollusks from Rev. Selah Merrill (1837-1909) from his 1875-77 expedition, Mrs. Bird (wife of Rev. Wm. Bird) and Rev. Wm. Mclure Thomson (1806-94) presented in 1866, with plates suitable for framing.
