In 1927, novelist and story writer Sherwood Anderson realized his aspiration to return to small town life and utilize his writing skills. So he moved to Marion Virginia and purchased the Marion Publishing Company and immediately became the publisher, editor and columnist for the town's two opposing newspapers--The Marion Democrat and the Smyth County News. This collection of his works on the those two papers serves as a sampler of his four years of newspaper writing.
